Google’s Lab of Wildest Dreams

NYTimes: According to unnamed sources, Google has a secret lab with CIA-like security where it works on projects that seem more like science fiction than reality. Called “Google X,” the lab has reportedly worked on projects like the driver-less cars that Google unveiled last year, as well as space elevators, the Internet of things and robots of all kinds.

They’re pretty far out in front right now,” said Rodney Brooks, a professor emeritus at MIT. “But Google’s not an ordinary company, so almost nothing applies.”
