Wall Street Journal: Google has announced that it will spend more than $200 million to build three new data centers in the Asia-Pacific region. The search giant has already purchased land for the facilities in Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The company hopes the data centers will be operational within one to two years.
Google already has 15 offices and thousands of employees in the Asia-Pacific region, but it does not have any data centers there. It currently has six data centers in the U.S., one in Finland and one in Belgium.
