Employees Rank Mark Zuckerberg as the World’s Best Boss

Glassdoor.com has published its annual list of the 50 CEOs who are rated the most highly by their employees. Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and SAP’s Bill McDermott and Jim Hagemann Snabe landed in the top spot with 99 percent of their employees saying they approve of what they’re doing.

PCMag’s Stephanie Mlot reported, “Mark Zuckerberg is doing something right. The Facebook chief earned a 99 percent approval rating from his social network employees, topping Glassdoor’s annual list of the 50 highest rated CEOs. Glassdoor surveyed hundreds of thousands of employees across various industries, and based on their feedback over the past 12 months, ranked the most impressive bosses, one of which happens to be hoodie-wearing billionaire Zuck.”

Jacquelyn Smith with Forbes added, “Over the past 12 months, Zuckerberg saw his approval rating climb a whopping 14 percentage points. The social media billionaire who recently earned the No. 2 spot on [Forbes] Most Powerful CEOs 40 and Under list, is also the 36th richest American and 25th most powerful person on the planet, according to Forbes. ‘Employees continually comment about Zuckerberg’s ability to paint a clear picture of where the company is headed,’ says Samantha Zupan, a Glassdoor spokesperson. ‘Plus, employees feel that the management team is receptive to employee satisfaction and strives to maintain its start-up culture.'”

Janet I. Tu with The Seattle Times noted, “Leading the list are Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and SAP’s Bill McDermott and Jim Hagemann Snabe, all with 99 percent approval ratings. Many of Microsoft’s other competitors also make the list: Google’s Larry Page with a 95 percent approval rating; Salesforce.com’s Marc Benioff with 94 percent; and Amazon.com’s Jeff Bezos and Apple’s Tim Cook with 93 percent. [Microsoft’s Steve] Ballmer, meanwhile, doesn’t make the list. He appears to have a 47 percent approval rating.”

SlashGear’s Craig Lloyd observed, “One interesting note, however, is that there’s only one female CEO on the list of 50 total bosses, and Yahoo and HP CEOs Marissa Mayer and Meg Whitman didn’t make the cut. Victoria’s Secret CEO Sharen Turney was the only woman to make the list, with an 82% approval rating. However Mayer did score an 87% approval rating, but since not enough Yahoo employees voted in the survey, she wasn’t eligible for the list, which would have her at 32 in the ranks. Whitman was on the list last year, but was bumped off this year.”
