PCWorld: X-bit Labs has posted details about Intel’s forthcoming lineup of processors, codenamed Ivy Bridge. According to X-bit, the chips will debut in the second quarter of 2012. All but one of the new processors feature quad-core technology, with 6MB cache and speeds between 2.5GHz and 3.5GHz.

The Ivy Bridge chips will be noticeably smaller than their predecessors, as Intel has switched to 22nm architecture from the 32nm architecture it used for previous chips. That smaller size means that the processor uses less energy and puts out less heat, and it leaves more room for integrated graphics, boosting the performance of the Ivy Bridge line.
