Business, IT Alignment a Top Priority for CIOs

CIO Insight: The annual survey from the Society for Information Management shows that enterprise IT departments are faring well, despite the uncertain economic times. 85 percent of CIOs surveyed said that 2012 IT budgets will stay the same or increase, and 94 percent said staff salaries would stay the same or increase. Their top IT management concerns for the coming year included the following:

  1. IT and business alignment
  2. Business agility and speed to market
  3. Business process management & reengineering
  4. Business productivity and cost reduction
  5. IT strategic planning
  6. IT reliability and efficiency
  7. Enterprise architecture/infrastructure capability
  8. Security and privacy
  9. Revenue-generating IT innovations
  10. IT cost reduction
