At its second annual Boxworks conference, file-sharing firm Box took some time to brag about its current success, as well as to introduce new features. The company seems strongly focused on the enterprise market.
According to The Next Web, Box CEO Aaron Levie came out on stage dancing “Gangnam style” and then “announced that Box has over 140,000 businesses signed up with over 14 million individual users.” He added that “92% of all Fortune 500 companies are using the service.”
In addition, NetworkWorld’s Brandon Butler reported, “Looking to broaden its scope in the enterprise market, Box Tuesday rolled out a ‘point and click’ ability for third parties to integrate the Box cloud sharing platform directly into their applications.”
ZDNet’s Rachel King noted that the feature, called Box Embed, is “an HTML5-embeddable framework that brings together Box’s suite of collaboration features and cloud-stored content to third-party applications. Thus, Box Embed also comes with 10 new enterprise partners: Concur, Cornerstone OnDemand, DocuSign, Eloqua, FuzeBox, Jive, NetSuite, Oracle, SugarCRM and Zendesk. The core idea behind Box Embed to link content together in one place in a simple but useful way — especially for end users.”
PCMag’s Chloe Albanesius observed that the service has also updated its user interface. “Cloud storage service Box today unveiled an interface overhaul that makes things more social by taking a few cues from Facebook,” she wrote. “The new Box experience means ‘content is more social,’ Box said in a video demo (below). Like Facebook, the Box dashboard on top of the main page includes icons that will alert you when you have new messages or tasks waiting.”
