Apple to Bring iPhone, iPad Features to Mac

Wall Street Journal: Apple has unveiled the latest version of its OS X operating system for desktop Macs. Codenamed “Mountain Lion,” the new release borrows a lot from Apple’s mobile operating system, iOS. “We see that people are in love with a lot of apps and functionality here,” said CEO Tim Cook, gesturing to his iPhone. “Anywhere where that makes sense, we are going to move that over to Mac.”

The company has renamed many of the elements of OS X to match iOS. For example, the “Address Book” has become “contacts,” and “iCal” is now “Calendar.” The new OS also incorporates the notification screen from the iPhone and integrates more closely with iCloud.
