The Wall Street Journal: Apple has sent out invites for an event to take place Wednesday, September 12, in San Francisco, where the company will likely introduce the next iPhone. The text reads, “It’s almost here,” and the invitation features an image of the number 12 with a shadow that looks like the number five. The five is assumed to refer to “iPhone 5.”

Numerous media outlets have been running rumors, speculation and “leaks” related to the new smartphone. The Wall Street Journal credits “people familiar with the matter” for saying that the new iPhone will have a slightly larger screen, new mapping software and an updated version of Siri.
