USAToday: Demand for the new iPad is so strong that Apple has sold out of the stock it allocated for pre-orders. Online orders placed now will not ship until at least March 19. “Customer response to the new iPad has been off the charts and the quantity available for pre-order has been purchased,” read a statement by Apple. “Customers can continue to order online and receive an estimated delivery date.”

The new iPad will be available in Apple stores and some other retail outlets on March 16, but customers will likely have to wait in line if they want to purchase the tablet that day.
