The Guardian: Motorola Mobility has won a battle in its patent war against Apple. In order to comply with an earlier court ruling which found that Apple had violated some of Motorola’s patents, Apple has announced that it will disable push email functions for its mobile devices in Germany. That means German iPhone and iPad owners who use Apple’s MobileMe or iCloud email won’t be able to access all of the features of those services.

Apple is still appealing the court decision which necessitated the change. Apple has also filed a complaint with the European Commission that Motorola is refusing to license its standards-related patents under fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory (FRAND) terms.
