Android Takes Chunk of Tablet Market, But Apple’s iPad Still Dominates

The Guardian: According to Strategy Analytics, Google’s Android operating system captured 39 percent of the tablet market in the fourth quarter of 2011. Still, Apple’s iPad maintained a sizable lead with 58 percent of the market.

In all, the research firm believes manufacturers sold 26.8 million tablets during that quarter. That means the tablet market is about one-fourth the size of the PC market.
