Bloomberg: Citing “two people with knowledge of the matter,” Bloomberg is reviving rumors that Amazon plans to build its own smartphone. According to the sources, the smartphone will run Google’s Android operating system, and China-based Foxconn, which also builds Apple’s iPhone, is involved in the manufacturing process.

The sources say that part of Amazon’s smartphone strategy also involves acquiring patents to help it defend itself against any possible lawsuits.

Amazon has not officially commented on the rumors.
