PeopleSoft is ranked third, behind SAP and Oracle, in ERP solutions for global back-end operations. Originally a product-based company, PeopleSoft’s principal revenues these days are largely generated by services such as consulting and maintenance, which make up 75% of sales. But the leftover 25% still claims a hefty share of the world market for ERP software, and the demand for IT professionals with PeopleSoft experience continues to grow.
In July 2000, employers were offering PeopleSoft professionals an average salary of $81,500 per year and an average contract rate of $80 per hour, according to dice.com, Datamation’s sister site and an online job board for IT professionals. These wages are based on 449 listings for this type of professional, with cities bearing fewer than 10 listings excluded from mention. Atlanta emerged from nowhere to boast the greatest demand for PeopleSoft pros, with 18% of the total listings. The highest salaries were in San Francisco, where this type of professional makes $92,000 per year on average. And the highest average contract wage offerings were in Dallas, at $109 per hour, an average which is distorted by a high-end offering of $250 per hour in that city.
Data came from available jobs listed during July 2000 on dice.com. Results are based on averages or totals from the following information on dice.com: salary, job type, job skills, and location.
