Cnet: For the seventh time in a row, Apple’s iPhone has captured first place in J.D. Power’s semiannual smartphone customer satisfaction survey. The iPhone scored 839 points (out of 1,000), followed by HTC smartphones with 798 points, Samsung with 769 points and Motorola with 758 points.

Across the board, the biggest complaint among smartphone owners was battery life. Those with 4G phones were the most dissatisfied, likely because those smartphones burn through a lot of power looking for 4G signals. “Both carriers and manufacturers recognize the fact that battery life needs to be improved,” said J.D. Power’s Kirk Parsons. “However, the study uncovers the need for a greater sense of urgency–short battery life can result in perceived phone problems, higher rates of merchandise returns, and customer defections.”
