BusinessWeek: Under pressure from the company board and stockholder Daniel Loeb, Yahoo CEO Scott Thompson resigned over the weekend. Thompson had come under criticism for lying on his resume by claiming a computer science degree he did not have. The company announced that Ross Levinsohn, Yahoo’s head of global media, will take over as interim CEO; director Fred Amoroso will fill the chairman’s role.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Thompson also told the Yahoo board he has thyroid cancer, which contributed to his decision to resign.
