T-Mobile to Lay Off 1,900 Employees

CNNMoney: T-Mobile, the fourth largest mobile carrier in the U.S., has announced that it will eliminate 1,900 positions and reduce its number of call centers from 24 to 17. Although the network provider is still profitable, it has been struggling as customers defect to rival carriers. In addition, regulators recently turned down T-Mobile’s plans to merge with AT&T.

“These are not easy steps to take, but they are necessary to realize efficiency in order to invest for growth,” said T-Mobile CEO Philipp Humm.
