Cnet: Security firm ViaForensics has released a new study of mobile apps for the iOS and Android platforms. It found that 76 percent of apps store usernames without encryption, and 10 percent of apps store passwords without encryption.
The report authors assigned pass, fail or warn grades to each of the apps based on their security practices. Overall, 39 apps failed, only 17 passed and 44 received a warning. While financial apps generally scored well, many social networking and productivity apps failed.
