Reuters: Samsung has won the latest battle in its ongoing international patent war with Apple. A UK court determined that Samsung’s Galaxy Tab line does not infringe on Apple’s design for the iPad. “They [the Galaxy tablets] do not have the same understated and extreme simplicity which is possessed by the Apple design. They are not as cool,” wrote Judge Colin Birss. “The overall impression produced is different.”

Samsung responded to the decision by saying, “Should Apple continue to make excessive legal claims in other countries based on such generic designs, innovation in the industry could be harmed and consumer choice unduly limited.”

Samsung and Apple currently have patent lawsuits underway in 10 different countries.
