Ars Technica: On the same day it won a patent lawsuit case brought by Oracle, Google has lost a patent lawsuit brought by Microsoft. A German court has ruled that mobile devices made by Motorola Mobility, now a Google subsidiary, violated a Microsoft patent that covers the transmission of very long text messages. As a result, Motorola must either obtain a license for the feature from Microsoft or stop selling products with the feature in Germany.

In the same case, the court found in Google’s favor on a separate infringement allegation related to a patent on multi-language features in apps.
