All Things D: Earlier this week, webOS Nation published a memo from a new HP subsidiary called “Gram,” and unnamed sources have confirmed to All Things D that the memo was authentic. According to the memo, HP has set up Gram to handle the Palm business, which it purchased for $1.2 billion about two years ago. Previously, HP had announced plans to release an open source version of webOS, Palm’s mobile operating system, in September.

The memo says Gram is currently in “stealth mode,” and advises employees, “We are an incubation company, and we are trusting you to keep this company name and product under the radar.” It adds, “If someone from the outside asks, you can say, ‘GRAM is a new company. We are in stealth mode on our product offering.'”

The memo reveals few details about Gram, other than saying, “We are no longer a consumer hardware brand, we are a different company with focus on software, User Experience, Cloud, engineering and partnering.”

All Things D is also reporting that HP has registered the domain name gr.am.
