Medicaid Hacked: Over 181,000 Records and 25,000 SSNs Stolen

ZDNet: The The Utah Department of Technology Services has reported that the state’s Medicaid servers were breached on March 30 of this year. Hackers, who appear to be located in Eastern Europe, accessed personal information for 181,604 Medicaid and CHIP accounts, and the hackers stole social security numbers related to 25,096 of those accounts.

The Utah Department of Health is contacting people victimized by the attack. Those whose social security numbers were stolen will receive free credit monitoring for a year. All Utah Medicaid and CHIP recipients should watch their bank and credit card statements for suspicious activity.
