Computerworld: Researchers from IDC predict that worldwide IT spending will increase by six percent this year, despite the economic turmoil in Europe. Many vendors say sales have been higher than expected, as companies have invested in IT solutions they believe will help them trim costs. IDC says that the software, storage, enterprise network and mobile device markets will be bright spots, while sales of servers, peripherals and PCs will likely be weaker.

U.S. IT spending is expected to climb by 5.9% this year; they increased 8.5% in 2011. IT sales in China, India and Brazil will likely grow by 14 percent this year. By contrast, European IT sales are predicted to increase only 1 percent.
