InformationWeek: On Wednesday, Apple released the latest version of its mobile operating system, iOS 5, but few people have been able to download and install the update. Instead end users are complaining about receiving error messages, and some say that their phones have been “bricked” (rendered completely inoperable) when attempting to install the iOS 5 update and the required iTunes update.

Apple’s iCloud service also launched on Wednesday, and the iPhone 4S is set to launch on Friday–two more events adding strain on Apple’s servers.
