InformationWeek: Google has unveiled a major update to its Chrome operating system, along with two new devices that run the OS. Chrome OS R19 offers a more traditional desktop interface, along with built-in Google Drive integration. The two new devices running the updated OS — the Samsung Chromebook Series 5 550 and the Samsung Chromebox 3 — offer much faster performance than previous Chrome hardware. Prices for the Series 5 550 start at $449, while the small Chromebox 3 starts at $329.

According to Google’s Caesar Sengupta, the company has lofty plans for the Chrome OS. “Our goal is a fairly long-term one,” he said. “We’re trying to change the world of computing.”
