LA Times: Is an iPad a PC? If it is, research firm Canalys says that Apple will likely overtake HP to become the world’s number one PC vendor next year. “Pads, and particularly the iPad, have radically changed the dynamics of the PC industry over the last year, already propelling Apple into second place in the worldwide PC market,” wrote Canalys’ Tim Coulling.

Currently, Apple has about 15 percent of the PC market (if you count tablets), while HP has about 18 percent of the market (if you don’t count tablets). Coulling says that if Apple releases a new iPad next year, it could jump ahead of HP.
