International Business Times: Although Amazon’s tablet PC hasn’t even been released yet, a new report from researchers at Forrester suggests that it could take over the lead from Apple’s iPad. Analyst Sarah Rotman Epps said that if Amazon’s tablet offers a significantly better price than Apple’s device, Amazon could sell three to five million units in the fourth quarter of this year, outselling the iPad.
“Thus far, Apple has faced many would-be competitors, but none have gained significant market share,” said Epps. “Not only does Amazon have the potential to gain share quickly but its willingness to sell hardware at a loss, as it did with the Kindle, makes Amazon a nasty competitor.”
