Amazon Web Services Receives Critical Gov’t Certification

NetworkWorld: The U.S. government has officially certified many of Amazon’s cloud computing services as secure enough for government agencies to use. Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud, Simple Storage Service and Virtual Private Cloud were all awarded Federal Information Security Management Act Moderate Authorization and Accreditation (FISMA).

Some agencies are prohibited from using services that do not have FISMA certification, but more than 100 federal agencies were already using some Amazon Web Services offerings.
