CIO: Akamai Technologies has confirmed that it will purchase Cotendo for $268 million in cash. Cotendo’s products include a content delivery network that makes it easier to access enterprise applications from a mobile device. In addition, the company offers a cloud computing traffic optimization platform called Cloudlet. The deal should close in the first part of 2012.

Between 15 and 30 percent of all Web traffic flows through Akamai’s caching platform.
