Mashable: Acer has unveiled a new line of ultrabooks with retail prices starting under $700. The Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M5 Series measures just .81 inches thick and weighs only 4.3 pounds. Unusually for ultrabooks, these models also feature optical drives. The 14-inch version with a second-generation Intel Core processor costs $679.99. The 14-inch model with a third-generation Intel Core processor costs $779.99, and the 15-inch model with a third-generation processor costs $829.99.

The new M5 series ultrabooks will go on sale before the end of June. They will ship with Windows 7 installed, but those who buy the new ultrabooks will be eligible to upgrade to Windows 8 for just $14.99.
