IT Pros to Find Demand for Skills, Low Risk of Layoffs in 2012: Dice Report

eWeek: A new Dice.com survey of 1,200 IT-focused hiring managers and recruiters finds that 65 percent plan to hire more IT workers in the next six months. It also found that 27 percent plan to increase their staff size by 20 percent or more. Also, those managers say that IT pros with six to ten years of experience are among the most highly sought after.

Other key findings from the survey included the following:

  • 48 percent of IT managers with jobs to fill say that it is taking longer to find qualified candidates.
  • 42 percent of IT managers say that salaries for new hires will increase next year.
  • Only 16 percent of IT managers say that layoffs are likely in the next six months.
  • 38 percent of IT managers expect an increase in IT workers leaving their jobs voluntarily.
