Computerworld: Several different organizations are involved in developing standards for cloud computing, leading some to wonder whether the multiple efforts will result in more confusion. The groups involved include the Cloud Standards Customer Council (backed by IBM), the Open Data Center Alliance (backed by Intel) and the Cloud Security Alliance (members include Coca-Cola and eBay).

Marvin Wheeler of the Open Data Center Alliance says the groups shouldn't be more complementary than competitive. "Our intention is to be extremely collaborative with all the various organizations that spawn out there," he added.
