Android Doubles iPhone in New Smartphone Sales

According to Nielsen, 56 percent of new smartphone buyers picked an Android device, while just 28 percent opted for an iPhone.

PCWorld: According to the latest research from Nielsen, about twice as many new smartphone buyers are opting for Android phones compared to those who are buying the iPhone. For the past three months, Google's Android captured 56 percent of the market, while Apple's iPhone had 28 percent of the market.

However, Nielsen cautions that those figures may change dramatically next month: Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 5 on October 4.
