Crittercism, a San Francisco-based mobile app performance management firm, announced today that it had raised $30 million in a Series C round of VC funding. To date, the company has raised over $48 million.

The startup’s technology portfolio includes application performance management tools that enable businesses and mobile developers to monitor, troubleshoot and optimize their apps. Dashboards provide at-a-glance views of issues that may affect the user experience, including network and device diagnostic data.

Crittercism’s website boasts that its platform “offers a real-time global view of app diagnostics and app errors across iOS, Android, Windows Phone 8, Hybrid and HTML5 apps monitoring 1 billion monthly active users.” Mobile app makers can leverage this information to create and maintain reliable and responsive apps.

Now, the company is turning its attention toward the enterprise mobility market by announcing a new API that integrates with IT management platforms.

Described as an “enterprise-grade API,” the solution provides server monitoring products with Crittercism mobile performance data, creating “end-to-end application management views,” according to the company. “The API is an integral component in transforming raw data into actionable information,” added the company in a statement.

Crittercism also took the wraps off its App Wrapping service, a solution that provides organizations with mobile app monitoring and management capabilities without the need for code level access to the app. Noting that most enterprises outsource their mobile app development — 80 percent by the company’s estimation — Levy said in a statement that the tech “enables companies to monitor these third-party apps with no code changes, preventing costly rollbacks and additional customer support as a result of underperforming applications.”

Scale Venture Partners led the financing round, with backing from InterWest Partners, Accenture and VMware, the latter of which recently acquired mobile device management (MDM) vendor AirWatch for $1.5 billion.

“Mobile applications have become a cornerstone for the enterprise, creating a significant market opportunity to support these applications,” observed Andy Vitus, a Scale Venture Partners partner and newly appointed Crittercism board member, in a statement. “Crittercism is empowering enterprises to deliver better apps for critical business functions.”

Andrew Levy, Crittercism’s co-founder and CEO, revealed in a blog post what his company has planned for the funds. “Enhanced monitoring, transaction management, and additional platform support are all on our roadmap,” he said. “We would also like to integrate our solution to other ecosystems; expect an announcement of more out-of-the-box integrations soon.”

In addition, Crittercism expects to grow its sales, marketing, support and engineering operations. Forging more technology partnerships and are also part of the plan as is an expansion into international markets. The company aims to be the number one mobile app performance management vendor in growing mobile app markets, namely Asia, Europe, South America and Africa, stated Levy.
