Sybase Inc. on Monday announced it has donated data management technology to the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (The China CDC) to aid in the prevention, control and research of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).

The China CDC will use the Sybase technology to build a powerful data analysis system that will enable the country’s medical departments and institutes to more quickly analyze and act upon data.
Products donated include Syabse IQ, Enterprise Application Server, Adaptive Server Enterprise, PowerBuilder and PowerDesigner.

“Sybase fully understands our needs and is kind to donate its powerful products and solutions,” said Mr. Zhu Zhinan, Deputy Director of the China CDC. “The battle against SARS is a great challenge for everyone, and with the generous contribution of Sybase, we can reach new heights in SARS prevention, control and research.”

“We would like the China CDC’s data analysis system to be not only the best way to learn about the latest status of diseases, but also an effective way to control the spread of this epidemic,” said Danny Fung, managing director of Sybase Software (China).

The China CDC is a social welfare unit of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) that aims to protect health and safety by preventing and controlling diseases, and to enhance health decisions by providing credible information on critical health issues.
