Cisco Systems has
completely updated its Cisco Wireless LAN Design Specialist and Cisco
Wireless LAN Support Specialist certifications.
The new programs feature
coverage of the 802.11g international WLAN standard, WLAN topologies for
802.11a/b/g WLAN networks, Cisco Wireless LAN Security Suite, and Cisco
Structured Wireless-Aware Network (SWAN).
The Support Specialist title has
the CCNA as a prerequisite, plus the Wireless LAN for Field Engineers exam
(642-582). The Design Specialist requires CCDA as a prerequisite, plus the
Wireless LAN for System Engineers (642-577) exam. You can get the exam
blueprints on Cisco’s Web site.
CheckPoint CCMSE Exam News
According to the Check Point Software Technologies Web site,
the CCMSE NG with Application Intelligence exam is now available.
Registration for the CCMSE FP-3 exam will end on May 7.
IBM Releases New DB2 for z/OS Certification
Computer professionals
who work with IBM’s DB2 Universal Database can now get certified as an IBM
Certified Database Administrator — DB2 Universal Database V8.1 for z/OS.
Candidates for this certification should be able to perform intermediate
to advanced tasks related to database design and implementation, operation
and recovery, security and auditing, performance, and installation and
migration specific to the z/OS operating system. This is a one-exam
certification.

New SCWD Exam Live
The exam for the Sun Certified Web Component
Developer for the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition 1.4 (CX-310-081), is
now live.
This exam focuses on the J2EE 1.4 API and costs $150. Before you can earn SCWD certification, you must first earn or
hold the Sun Certified Programmer for the Java platform (any edition). An
upgrade exam, from SCWD 1.3, is also available, at a cost of $100.
