Sun Readying Solaris 9 Network Admin Exam
Sun Microsystems is hard at work on the Network Administrator for Solaris exam that will cover Solaris 9. The exam will be offered in beta from June 17 through July 9. If you are already a Sun Certified System Administrator for Solaris and want to take the beta, you can request a free voucher at the Sun Web site.
RHCE Exam Updated
The Red Hat Linux Certified Engineer (RHCE) exam has been updated to cover Red Hat Linux 7.3. Current RHCEs will still hold valid certifications unless they earned the title some time ago. According to Red Hat’s certification FAQ, RHCE certification is considered current for the major release of Red Hat that’s commercially available at the time of certification plus the next two major releases.
Riverstone Networks Launches Hands-On Metro Networking Certification
Riverstone Networks has created a two-tiered certification program to certify expertise in metropolitan area network technology. Level one, Riverstone Certified Network Professional (RCNP) requires passing a 75-question multiple choice exam ($150) administered via Prometric. Level two, Riverstone Certified Internetwork Expert (RCIE) required an additional written exam ($200), and a one day hands-on lab exam ($1,250) held a Riverstone Networks facility. Technologies covered include routing, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, and the finer points of service creation. For more details see on the Riverstone Web site.
Avaya Adds IP Telephony Specialist Title
Avaya Inc. has added a new certification for individuals who design, install, manage, and maintain enterprise-class Internet Protocol (IP) telephony networks and applications. Unfortunately they’ve also modified their Web site so that you can’t get information on their certification programs without providing full registration and calling them on the telephone to verify what you’ve entered. Sybase Adaptive Server 12.5 Exam Live
The newest Sybase exam: Sybase Adaptive Server Administrator Version 12.5 (exam 510-020) is now available in Prometric testing centers. The exam consists of 56 multiple choice questions and lasts up to 90 minutes. Passing score is 66%. Topics covered include architecture, configuration, resource allocation, database and transaction logs, backup and recovery, and more. Get the full outline at the Sybase Web site.
