Huffington Post: Users have downloaded Google Earth 1 billion times, and to celebrate, Google is launching a new website. Almost everyone has used the tool to see how their houses look from space, but the new site will focus on how people have used Google Earth in meaningful and groundbreaking ways. Teachers, archaeologists, architects and others will share their stories on www.OneWorldManyStories.com.

“None of us ever conceived we’d have that many downloads,” said Google’s Peter Birch. “The initial enthusiasm caught a lot of people off guard.” He added, “Really, it’s a very powerful platform for sharing information.”
