eWeek: According to a new report from IDC, IBM had a 30.5 percent share of the server market in the second quarter, while HP had 29.8 percent of the market. Those figures are close enough that IDC considers them a statistical tie.

IBM was able to catch up to the former number one server company thanks to a 24.5 percent increase in server revenues for the quarter. In particular, Big Blue’s mainframe revenue skyrocketed 61.1 percent to hit $1.2 billion in Q2.

Dell came in third with 13.8 percent market share, and Oracle (7.2 percent) and Fujitsu (6.5 percent) were in a statistical tie for fourth.
