InformationWeek: Enterprise customers who purchase a new Compaq Pro 6500 or 6200 Series PC or HP Elite 8200 Series PC will receive access to a cloud-based storage account from Box. “Our customers are entering a new era of data management and storage, and they need a simple, cost-effective way to collaborate and share information in the cloud,” said HP’s Stephen DiFranco. “HP’s broad range of PCs plus Box’s scalable service provides the desirable security, functionality and features to meet the needs and budgets of our customers.”

Industry observers say that the decision to bundle PCs with cloud-based offerings is a sign that HP is moving away from a business model that emphasizes hardware to a model that emphasizes services.
