InformationWeek: While Google has doubled the number of consumers who can use its new Google+ social network, it doesn’t plan to open the service to a large number of businesses until later this year. “Right now, we’re very much focused on optimizing for the consumer experience,” said Google’s Christian Oestlien. “But we have a great team of engineers building a similarly optimized business experience for Google+.”
He added that when it debuts later this year, the Google+ service for business “will include things like rich analytics, and the ability to connect [a Google+] identity to other parts of Google that businesses might use on a daily basis, like AdWords.”
A small group of businesses will be allowed to pilot Google+ before it launches more widely.
