Google Chrome Browser Captures 15.5% of Market

eWeek: Google is celebrating two milestones related to its Chrome browser this week: Chrome turned three years old on September first, and it passed 15 percent market share for the first time ever in August. In fact, Net Applications reports that Chrome grew to a 15.5 percent share for the month, up significantly from 14.3 percent in July.

At the same time, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer fell from 56 percent in July to 55.3 percent in August, and Mozilla’s Firefox browser dropped from 22.8 percent to 22.6 percent. Apple’s Safari held steady at 4.6 percent.
