Galaxy Nexus Debuts with Ice Cream Sandwich, Facial Recognition

Washington Post: At an event in Hong Kong, Google and Samsung each unveiled new products. First up, Samsung debuted its Galaxy Nexus smartphone, the first phone to feature the Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich” operating system. The device has plenty of interesting features, but the one that got the most attention was one that didn’t work in the demo–facial recognition that unlocks the phone’s security features.

After Samsung’s show, Google execs took to the stage to promote the next version of Android. “Ice Cream Sandwich” offers one OS for both smartphones and tablets, and it eliminates the need for hardware buttons that are on other Android phones.
