GigaOm: Dell has announced that it will launch a public cloud computing service this year, with a beta available next month. Called “Dell Cloud,” the infrastructure-as-a-service offering will initially be built on top of VMware technology, but the company says that Azure- and OpenStack-based versions will be coming soon.
Dell Cloud will have three pricing options: pay-as-you-go, reserved and dedicated. The reserved and dedicated options will cost less per hour but will require a one-year commitment.
