PCMag: Nielsen’s third quarter report on mobile operating systems reveals that Google’s Android continues to dominate with 43 percent of the U.S. market, up from 39 percent in the previous quarter. In fact, Android was the only mobile OS to grow its market share during the period. Second place iOS held steady at 28 percent, and RIM fell from 20 percent to 18 percent. Microsoft’s two mobile OSes also showed declines.
The report also finds that 43 percent of all U.S. cell phone owners now carry a smartphone, and the percentage of smartphone owners is growing.
