SANTA CLARA and MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Palo Alto Networks and Google Cloud have jointly developed a threat-detection service for their joint customers.

Palo Alto Networks and Google Cloud are rolling out their Cloud Intrusion Detection System (IDS) to give cloud customers the highest levels of security in “a few clicks,” according to Palo Alto Networks in July.

Detecting threats can be a significant hurdle for cloud network security teams, leading to security policy compliance challenges and “blind spots” for the security operations center, Palo Alto Networks said.

Cloud IDS is designed for an “easy path to network threat detection,” with a “simple” setup and deployment to gain deep insight into network-based threats and support industry-specific security compliance goals.

The service features threat-detection technologies by Palo Alto Networks and provides managed, cloud-native, and network-based threat detection.

Cloud IDS is the result of a year-long joint design and engineering effort between Palo Alto Networks and Google.

“Businesses are betting on the cloud for their most important initiatives, and one of the most fundamental factors to their success will be security,” said Nikesh Arora, chairman and CEO, Palo Alto Networks.

“We’ve had a tremendous strategic partnership with Google over the past three years that helps ensure that our joint customers can have a simple, secure journey to the cloud. This service takes that to new levels.”

“Customers demand uncompromising security that is simple to deploy and easy to manage,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO, Google Cloud.

Kurian said Google Cloud and Palo Alto Networks are partnering to deliver solutions, such as Cloud IDS, that “solve our customers’ security challenges.”
