Computerworld: A new survey by Gartner finds that CFOs have “authorized” 26 percent of IT projects, a 15 percent increase from the previous year. In addition, 42 percent of IT departments report to the CFO, while only 33 percent report to the CEO. The study also found that “only 32% of CFOs said they see the CIO as a strategic partner.”
“There is a message in the study that IT needs to get much closer to business,” said Gartner analyst John Van Decker. “If they (CIOs) don’t do that I think what you are going to see is more of the control being taken away.”
