Wall Street Journal: Unnamed sources tell the Wall Street Journal that the U.S. Justice Department is ready to approve Google's acquisition of Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion. Official word could come as soon as next week. However, anti-trust enforcers plan to monitor Google's handling of Motorola's patents carefully--making sure that it offers fair and reasonable licensing as promised.
Sources say that the Justice Department also plans to give the green light to a deal which saw a consortium of tech companies, including Microsoft, Apple and RIM, purchasing Nortel's patent library.
