PCMag: Samsung has won a skirmish in its ongoing patent war with Apple. Apple had asked a U.S. district court to ban sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the United States because the tablet is so similar to Apple's iPad. The district court declined to do so because the federal appeals court is currently reviewing the case. The district court needed to preserve the status quo, Judge Lucy Koh said. "In this case, Samsung was engaged in selling the Galaxy Tab 10.1 at the time of the appeal. Thus, granting an injunction would prohibit Samsung from selling the Galaxy Tab 10.1, altering the respective rights of the parties and changing the status quo that existed at the time of the appeal," she wrote.
The next U.S. court meeting between Samsung and Apple will occur June 7 with a hearing regarding Apple's request for a sales ban on the Galaxy Nexus smartphone.
