FriendFeedZDNet: Researchers at IDC say the market for products related to the Hadoop big data analytics software is about to take off. Last year, enterprises spend just $77 million on Hadoop-MapReduce products, but by 2016, IDC believes the market will grow to $812.8 million. That's a 60 percent annual growth rate.
Some industry observers are comparing Hadoop to Linux, another open source technology that eventually became commonplace in enterprise data centers.
