Sony Electronics Appoint New CIO
PARK RIDGE, N.J. – Sony Electronics has named James T. Milde to be its new chief information officer. Milde’s goals include developing and implementing the company’s IT strategy and integrating its business operations under a common platform. Milde has 20 years experience in the media and consumer product industries, most recently as senior vice president and CIO of The Pepsi Bottling Group. Prior to Pepsi he spent nine years in the media industry, most recently as senior vice president of operations and administration for Random House, in charge of supply chain logistics, IT and new media.

Delphi Bolsters IT Department

TROY, Mich. – Delphi Automotive Systems has appointed several people to positions in its Information Systems & Services department:

  • Bette Walker takes the newly created position of executive director for business operations, where she’ll be responsible for IS&S global business planning, global cost management and the department’s restructuring initiatives. Prior to her appointment she was CIO for Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems since 1997.
  • Doug Quada replaces Walker as the CIO for Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems. Most recently he served as the technical
    and business operations director for the division. He has more than 15 years of experience in IT working in a variety of positions at DOM Consulting Services, Mazda North America, Borders Group and elsewhere.
  • John Reaves becomes executive director for
    Global Enterprise Application Systems, responsible for Delphi’s North America SAP implementation and strategy for implementation of SAP globally. He previously worked for Verizon as program management office director in the infrastructure management organization.

UL Hires New CTO
NORTHBROOK, Ill. – Safety testing organization Underwriters Laboratories Inc. has hired Ted V. Hall to be its new vice president and CTO. Hall is responsible for all UL engineering and technical activities worldwide. He most recently worked for 10 years at Motorola’s Austin, Texas, facility that handles semiconductor product development. Before that he worked for IBM’s information products division in Lexington, Kentucky.

Scient Hires New CTO
NEW YORK – IT consulting firm Scient has named Sushil Prabhu its chief technology officer, a new position. Prabhu has been with Scient since 1998 and will oversee the company’s market-facing and client-facing technology direction. He will consult on client deliveries and provide technology direction for Scient’s solutions group, as well as be active in Scient’s Alliances Program. He previously was chief technologist for Scient’s Financial Services group and earlier was with Cambridge Technology Partners as Financial Services Group Technology Manager.

Concurrent Promotes VP to CTO
ATLANTA – Concurrent Computer Corp., a provider of high-performance computer systems including interactive TV and video-on-demand, has promoted Robert Chism to CTO of the company’s Xstreme division. Chism was most recently vice president of engineering and development. He replaces Fred Allegrezza, who is leaving the company to explore other opportunities.

Kaiser Permanente Names New CIO
Health care organization Kaiser Permanente has named a new CIO. J. Clifford “Cliff” Dodd, a veteran IT executive, joins the California-based Kaiser as senior vice president for information technologies and chief information officer. He has previously been CIO of Qwest Communications and Ameritech and president and CEO of Latis Networks. He also spent 13 years at American Express working with systems and software development.

Suarez Named EVP/CIO of IndyMac Bank
PASADENA, Calif. – Robert Suarez, formerly CIO of Fidelity Federal Bank, has
joined IndyMac Bank as executive vice president/CIO of the Pasadena, Calif.-based financial services
company. In this role, he will be responsible for developing and sharing a vision of technology that challenges IT resources and is aligned with the evolving business imperatives of a regulated company.
